Primary Highlights
Experience the Wilderness on Foot
While traditional game drives are excellent for spotting large predators, exploring Uganda on foot offers an entirely different, deeply immersive perspective.
Nature walks allow you to slow down and appreciate the intricate micro-ecosystems that you would otherwise speed right past. Without the rumble of an engine, you can hear the complex calls of endemic bird species, watch rare butterflies flutter through the canopy, and learn about the medicinal properties of local plants from your guide.
From the lush foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains to the shaded paths of ancient rainforests, our nature walks are the perfect, relaxing addition to your high-altitude expedition.

Uganda’s Best Walking Destinations
We curate walking tours across the country’s most pristine environments. Whether you want culture, birding, or close encounters with herbivores, there is a trail for you.
Ruboni Community Trails
The perfect warm-up or cool-down for your climb. Guided by the local Bakonzo people, walk through the lush foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Look out for the rare three-horned chameleon, the vibrant Rwenzori Turaco, and enjoy spectacular views of the soaring portal peaks.
Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary
A paradise for birders and primate lovers. This community-run swamp boardwalk is famous for sightings of the Great Blue Turaco, papyrus gonoleks, and up to eight species of monkeys swinging through the canopy just meters above the trail.
Bwindi Munyaga Waterfall Trail
If you have extra time after gorilla trekking, this deep forest walk is magical. Follow the Munyaga River through ancient, giant tree ferns and thick jungle foliage, culminating at a beautiful series of cascading waterfalls.
Lake Mburo Foot Safari
Because Lake Mburo has no elephants or lions, it is one of the only parks in Uganda where you can safely walk freely on the savannah. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you can walk incredibly close to herds of zebra, impala, giraffe, and eland.
Need to Know Before You Walk
Footwear & Clothing
Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes with good grip are essential, as forest paths can be slippery. We recommend light, long-sleeved shirts and trousers to protect against branches and insects.
What to Pack in your Daypack
Bring a good pair of binoculars for bird watching, a camera, a lightweight rain jacket (tropical showers can happen anytime), a bottle of drinking water, and high-quality insect repellent.
Guides & Safety
All our nature walks are led by expert local guides or Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers. They are highly trained to interpret the flora and fauna and ensure your complete safety on the trails.
